Welcome to our digital archive. This website was born out of theatre show, 549: Scots of the Spanish Civil War, by Wonder Fools. The play tells the true story of four of the 549 Scots that volunteered as part of the International Brigade. The production will tour Scotland and visit London in summer 2019. This website aims to preserve and celebrate the stories of other men and women that volunteered from the regions that we are visiting. Wonder Fools have interviewed historians, family members of volunteers and members of the International Brigade Memorial Trust from around the UK and captured their stories. We hope you enjoy hearing them and look forward to gathering more memories as the tour progresses.
